Buyer / Planner

Responsibilities:

The Buyer/Planer is primarily responsible for supporting procurement of assigned commodities to meet Bruker Nano Surfaces (BNS) requirements for best value, on time delivery and high quality. This role requires knowledge of key commodity markets, contracting and negotiations. Main responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and ensure timely procurement of materials to meet BNS’ needs
  • Review, analyze and process purchase requisitions as needed
  • Negotiate and finalize pricing for commodities
  • Establish Long Term Agreements (LTA) or pricing agreements that meet the BNS’ with regard to cost control and guaranteed supply
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams to find new sources, supplier selections and negotiations

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design of new products using Solid Edge CAD software
  • Prepare, design, layout and detail creative and innovative product designs by working closely with project engineers, production, and marketing
  • Develop product line extensions to existing product lines to accommodate new product offerings
  • Create and complete 3D CAD models, 2D detailed drawings, BOM’s, prototype models, and technology transfer into production
  • Conduct, lead and document design reviews

Trainer/Multimedia Developer

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the design and development of videos, graphics, and other mediated course materials reflecting high production values and demonstrated instructional value covering the installation, operation, advanced applications, and support procedures of Bruker BNS products.

Develops graphic-rich print, HTML, multimedia and video-based materials for distributed courses deliverable via online channels, portable media, and classroom training sessions to enable customers to extract more value in shorter periods of times from Bruker BNS products.

Leverage factory experts demonstrating and explaining advanced SPM modes and operation techniques to optimize the training of internal and external customers in all aspects of utilizing the products.

Essential Functions:

Under the general direction of the Senior Product Support Manager perform the following duties as appropriate and when required:

  • Develop audio/video based material covering the installation and basic operation of Bruker BNS products: 40%
  • Work with cross-functional team members to create educational tutorials covering advanced applications and operation of Bruker BNS products: 20%
  • Administer and maintain the Web-based Product Support information depositories:10%
  • Ensure and monitor all published multimedia content for compliance with Bruker’s policies and requirements for copyright laws, intellectual property protection, and best practices: 5%

Vice President, Strategic Marketing

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Segment Marketing is responsible for developing strategic (advanced) markets across the Bruker Nano Surfaces Division (BNS). This position will work closely with the President of BNS to develop strategy that is complimentary to and extending beyond individual business unit strategy. This position is responsible for the development of market strategy for targeted market segments. In these targeted segments, the Vice President of Segment Marketing will develop a complete understanding of segment dynamics (growth, size, and competitive positions) and market needs. A key role will be the creation and execution of segment strategies and market segment roadmaps. In addition, this position will determine financial and market potential for new and existing applications and the associated unmet needs. The VP of Segment Marketing will lead efforts for our entry into new areas resulting in compelling business plans and the organization of new research and development programs. In addition, he/she will lead specific projects in Business Development.

This position will also help in the identification of acquisition targets and the development of acquisition business cases.

The VP of Segment Marketing responsibilities require an international outlook and familiarity with business opportunities worldwide.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides market segment analysis for targeted market segments: market trends, market size and growth, competitive landscape

Test Specialist

Responsibilities:

The Test Engineer position is responsible for the final assembly, test, and calibration of the SPM systems and accessories that make up the AFMI product lines produced at Veeco Santa Barbara. The test engineer is responsible for completion of the assigned work order which primarily involves taking the necessary parts and testing the equipment by following product specific documented procedure. These responsibilities extend to the resolution of any technical issues that arise during the course of testing. This position is primarily required to work efficiently and effectively on their own, but also must be able to work well within a team environment. The Test Engineer position exists within a production setting and requires the holder of this position to be able to function well in a closely scheduled environment.

Essential Functions:

Applications Scientist

This position has 5 primary responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific application and technical expertise in the definition, validation, and release of winning products and new growth market adoption in the area of SPM Optical Spectroscopy (TERS, NSOM, etc).
  • Be an active participant and evangelist in the scientific SPM Optical Spectroscopy community by carrying out cutting edge AFM research, and communicating your work in scientific conferences, presentations, papers, application notes, and Bruker activities.
  • Expand our technology’s reach into new markets, enable our customer’s productivity and dramatically improve our customer service, by creating and leading content rich, highly interactive customer trainings through webinars, on-site courses, community forums, and self-serve knowledge bases.
  • Engage in collaborations that align and enable our market, product, and technology roadmaps – specifically in areas such as the development of SPM Optical Spectroscopy technologies.
  • Dynamically apply our world-class expertise to AFM’s global, tactical and strategic priorities (from Demos, to VOC), and through our actions and spirit, reclaim our position as the unrivaled performance leader

It is required that the all information garnered through these efforts be fully distributed to all relevant personnel, and to this end, the position will use Marcom, Product Management, and the Bruker Channel to deliver technical content, and to deploy knowledge.

  • Serve as final authority in both hands-on and theoretical discussions of any SPM Optical Spectroscopy escalated situation (sales or scientific).

The primary responsibility of a Production Support Technician is to design and build production aids (including Creform structures) and to solve process/product problems. The position requires the ability to read and understand drawings & assembly documentation, the ability to fabricate using standard machine shop tools, and the ability to use production tooling.

Customer Support Coordinator

Responsibilities:

Provide administrative decision-making, support and leadership; oversee the work of the administrative staff and manage their deadlines. Answer domestic/international interoffice inquiries and communicate with BU’s cross-functional partners. Optimize SAP service processes and ensure that they are aligned for IBU's and DBU's. Generate documentation and train domestic and international administrative staff enabling compliance with Bruker’s business processes and established policies. Provide front line customer and internal field service support within the Bruker Nano Surfaces Business Customer Care Center reporting to the regional Customer Support Manager. This includes receiving direct customer and internal field service communication through phone, e-mail, website, and SAP database and processing these requests in the most effective and efficient manner. Execute all Operations Planner activities in our Tucson office. Includes Planning, Commit Date, Delivery and Picking.

Essential Functions:

  • Take direction from the regional Customer Support Manager
  • Answer domestic/international interoffice inquiries and communicate with BU’s cross-functional partners e.g. IBU billings due list from Finance, proactively review and follow up with IBU's for order entry errors that prevent the order to process/complete (ZOOR report)
  • Optimize SAP service processes and ensure that they are aligned for IBU's and DBU's
  • Evaluate current SOP for processing orders in SAP. Provide recommendations for processing non-standard requests in SAP. Investigate/troubleshoot IBU's special requests and drive administrative staff towards finding and implementing optimal solutions. Assist defining best practices for business processes e.g. ZRE, Debit memo, Discounts, Warranty vs. Billable
  • Responsible for tracking, and clearing issues in order processing and release: Commit dates, RMA’s, Demo shipment request, Material requisition approval and processing, Export compliance paperwork
  • Generate documentation and train domestic and international administrative staff enabling compliance with Bruker’s business processes and established policies
  • Responsible for evaluating the administrative staff; conduct annual employee evaluations and mentor personnel as they grow within the organization
  • Assist in the staffing of the department; interview, select and hire new staff
  • Execute all Operations Planner activities in our Tucson office. Includes Planning, Commit Date, Delivery and Picking
  • 1st line customer contact through phone, e-mail, website, and SAP reporting
  • Execute data analysis as requested by the regional Customer Support Manager using SAP database information pull and excel pivot tables and macros to provide 1st level analysis
  • Generate quotes, create sales orders, execute order review, communicate to factory request for return material, communicate to customer return material authorization, assist customer to ensure part return to regional office/business unit is fast and efficient
  • Effectively manage the transfer of technical requests to regional Technical Support team
  • Conform at all times to Bruker and customer’s safety, cleanliness, and working protocol policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Complete standard operating procedures, project plans and other documentations as required in a timely manner

Essential Functions:

  • Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Position Purpose:

Design flow cells using TPS lean tools, then implement & debug them

Essential Functions:

Customer Support Engineer

Responsibilities:

Perform customer support activities involving the installation, modification, system level troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of complex equipment to ensure proper working order. Applications implementation and development at customer facilities and laboratories, ensuring that our Stylus and Optical Profilers are utilized in the most effective way considering our customers most critical needs. Repair Center Technician

A Repair Center Technician (RCT) is responsible for repairing items returned for repair. This includes some evaluation/troubleshooting to a board level, soldering, part replacement, adhering parts for assembly, cleaning of parts, and some testing/calibration. Product Support Engineer

Responsibilities:

Designs, develops and manages service activities for a group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Serves as the central service resource during design, manufacturing, test, and quality as the products move to production and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

The BNS Product Life Cycle (PLC) process is based on the fundamental concept of managing products through six clearly identified product life cycle phases ensuring efficient and successful introduction of new products as well as managing released products all the way to obsolescence.

Manages and supports factory escalations by providing expert advice, dispatching resources, and creation of individual plans for most efficient recovery.

Under the general direction of the Senior Product Support Manager perform the following duties as appropriate and when required:

  • Represent the service stakeholder in the PLC process throughout all phases of the product life cycle. Use independent judgment to draft Design for Service (DfS) deliverables for each new product in PLC phase 1. Use discretion to verify relevant key performance indices (KPI) are established in the product requirements document (PRD) and meet DfX guidelines. 5%

  • Manage installations & customer acceptance of all shipments (revenue recognition) and dispatch on short notice if installation presents revenue linearity risk 2%

  • Monitor demand trends of spare parts by analyzing monthly consumption rates and manage depot footprint for a 5 year support for existing products.   • Identify and define spare parts and advanced replacement pricing structures by analyzing repair costs. 2%
  • Proactively communicate obsolescence status for products entering PLC phase 6 to stakeholders by authoring customer-facing and internal end of service (EOS) notifications. Implement and monitor and correct as required service stocking strategies to match obsolescence status. 5%
  • Track and close customer escalations (reported in Failure Review Board meeting) by identifying goals, deliverables and resources required to closure. Determine and effectively communicate root cause of failure to failure review board. 5%
  • Provide on-site and off-site technical support to complex multifaceted customer issues and escalations. Conduct escalation post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful elements of issue resolution. 10%

This position assists IT Operations staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Sales Applications Engineer

For Bruker’s Automated Atomic Force Microscopes:

  • Presents technical sales material, and provides sales technical support and recommendation for generating new sales opportunities
  • Assists the sales team in advancing commercial opportunities through the presentation, sample running, & demonstration of products as part of a comprehensive sales process

Product Manager Handheld XRF

Bruker Elemental, a division of Bruker AXS Inc. with headquarters in Kennewick WA, is seeking a Product Manager for its handheld X-ray fluorescent (XRF) spectrometer line. Bruker Elemental designs, manufactures and distributes handheld XRF analyzers for a global market. Applications include non-destructive elemental analysis of material such as metals, plastics, soil, paint, paper and much more.

The Product Manager for Handheld XRF is responsible for product planning and strategic direction, definition of the product and applications. This includes gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with product development to deliver winning products for metal, mining and mineral markets. The Product Manager represents the Voice of the Customer to the product development organization. The candidate will be also responsible of business development for the mining and minerals segment for Bruker Handheld XRF instruments.

Essential Functions:

Product Management

  • Providing outwardly-focused Marketing information and support of the handheld XRF products for metals, mining and mineral markets. This includes product positioning, market segmentation, specification of new products, new accessories, existing product enhancements, marketing communications planning for new products, market penetration strategies, pricing levels and structures (price list management).
  • Assisting product development through marketing support, including new product proposals, new applications identification, new product specifications, industrial design, beta testing, development of product structures, packaging and pricing.
  • Working with the product development teams to provide internally-focused marketing support to product development, technical writing plan, product labeling, warranty planning, input regarding intellectual property, and supporting a smooth pre-release manufacturing interface and release for sale.
  • Participating in the support of existing released products through Marketing Planning including: Web site, advertisements, direct mail, trade shows, and other marketing devices.  
  • Participating in training of sales team and distributors in the operation of the equipment and sales strategy.  
  • Authoring applications notes and presenting papers at seminars and conferences.

Business Development

  • Responsible for business development for the mining and minerals segment, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with development and sales to deliver winning products.
  • Working closely with counterparts at other Bruker businesses to develop a  coordinated approach to the mining and mineral business development, where applicable.
  • Participating with the Sales organization in development of an effective distribution strategy.

Other

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • This position requires frequent verbal and written interaction with customers, distributors and the Sales team.

The Principal Software Architect will provide technical leadership as part of a team working on highly technical architecture initiatives. Essential Functions:

  • Research, evaluate and define an industry leading architecture technology, strategy, tools, and standards appropriate for system specifications that will yield significant improvements in the industry standard for reliability, quantitative performance, and time-to-market
