ROHS-QUANT – The dedicated solution for fast and accurate RoHS compliance checks
Since July 2006 the EU directive EU 2002/95/EC for the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances” (RoHS) in electrical and electronic products excludes all non-compliant products from the market. Similar regulations will be introduced in other areas of the world, including China and the US, within a short period of time. All new products and production processes need to be monitored for the concentration of restricted substances, namely hexavalent Cr, Hg, Pb, Cd and Polybrominated Diphenylethers and Biphenylethers (PBDE and PBE). Ensuring that no limit is exceeded is a huge challenge for every manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment.
Reliable, accurate and fast screening for the RoHS restricted elements in all different kinds of materials is a daunting task. In practice X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis has proven itself as the perfect analytical tool for fulfilling the main requirements of the industry and service laboratories. The minimal sample preparation without the use of harmful chemicals and the direct measurement of solid samples distinguishes XRF from any other elemental analysis technique. With the lowest calibration effort, shortest time-to-result and highest cost effectiveness, XRF is perfect for screening large numbers of samples in a short time. The IEC working group TC111, responsible for the industrial standardization of RoHS procedures, has ranked XRF as the best analytical tool for quantitative screening in RoHS (IEC 62321).
ROHS-QUANT, provided only by Bruker AXS, makes RoHS compliance checks even simpler. Set up as the dedicated solution with predefined applications for RoHS, ROHS-QUANT is easy to use. It provides unrivalled analytical performance for the analysis of polymer and plastic samples, is based on special RoHS standard samples and can be customized to meet special analytical needs. ROHS-QUANT is available for EDXRF as well as WDXRF.
From qualitative monitoring and quantitative screening to full quantitative analysis, ROHS-QUANT is perfectly suited for all RoHS applications.
