PLATINUM 135 CCD Detector
Better Data… Faster
The PLATINUM 135 detector is based on a brand new model of the largest scientific grade CCD chip manufactured - the Fairchild Imaging Systems 486 4K CCD (16 Mega-Pixels) coupled to a 135 mm fiberoptic taper.
The longer wavelength of Copper radiation requires the acquisition of data to higher diffraction angles (Up to a 2 Theta value of 135 degrees). Collecting data to atomic resolution with Cu-radiation is comparable to achieving diffraction angles required for Charge density experiments using Mo-Radiation.
A detector with a large active area helps to cover this 2-Theta range with fewer detector settings (shells) in a shorter period of time.
Small crystals require high detector sensitivity.
The PLATINUM 135 features the highest available quantum sensitivity (40 electrons/X-ray at Cu Ka for this size detector to deliver higher data quality with shorter exposures.
High-speed screening requires fast detector readout.
The PLATINUM 135 is faster than any detector this size. It features optimized four-port readout for high throughput (down to 0.2 sec frame readout). Frame to frame overhead is only 2s in 512 mode for correlated frames.
Small crystals require accurate detection of extremely weak signals.
Digitally-stabilized, low-noise readout (downto 8 electrons typical) allows you to reliably measure data on the smallest crystals.
Resolving reflections from twinned samples requires superior spatial resolution.
The PLATINUM 135 features the new Nano-Structured scintillator screen and 15 micron pixels for the best available point spread function to resolve the closest spots.
Powder samples require superior spatial resolution.
The PLATINUM 135 is the ideal CCD detector for data collection on powder samples. the new Nano-Structured scintillator screen and 15 micron pixels guarantee sharp powder rings with best signal to noise ratio.
Thermal diffuse scattering experiments require very long exposure times to detect weak diffuse scatter next to very intense Bragg reflections.
The PLATINUM 135's exceptional high dynamic range and electronics which prevent overflow of pixels (Anti blooming) make it a perfect detector for this application. Its ultra low readnoise and the low darknoise make it possible to detect event the faintest diffraction feature.
