Olympus HDI Reliability Tester
Magnetic & Magneto Optical Disk and Head Interface Precision Testing
The Olympus Head-Disk Interface (HDI) Reliability Testing System is designed to perform precision in situ component level evaluations of the tribological performance of magnetic and magneto optical disks and heads. Testing can be performed in the same conditions that the drive is specified, at either single disk or cartridge levels.

Ideal Solution for Quality Control, Production, and R&D
- Up to 8 testers per system for QC and production applications
- Up to 4 testers per system for R&D purposes
- Custom configurations are available for your specific needs
Advanced Hardware & Simultaneous Realtime Performance
- Simulate the geometry of most disk drives with form factors 1.0-, 1.8-, 2.5-, 3.0-, 3.5-, and 5.25-inches
- User-controlled spindle speeds (up to 20,000 RPM), acceleration & deceleration with back-cogging simulation in both CW and CCW directions
- Realtime measurements and data analysis of stiction, acoustic emission, spindle velocity, magnetic signal amplitude, and thermal asperities
- Inuitive Windows 2000 interface allows fast data processing, convenient data export formatting, and LAN/internet compatibility
Precision Spin, Seek, and Spin & Seek Coordination
- Highly accurate (0.2%) speed and acceleration/deceleration
- Any combination of the 3 types of head movements are available — sweeping between user-chosen disk radii, seeking to any disk radius, random sweeping & seeking with randomly changing speed and amplitude
- Precise DSP-control and coordination of both spin & seek motions allows for highly accurate seek at spin-up acceleration and constant-spin flying
- Perform definitive and reliable head positioning on the disk in both angular and radial directions
