Minerals, Mining and Geology
Dedicated analytical performance for the mining and mineral industry is offered from Bruker. The worlds most advanced analytical X-ray solutions are covering all tasks in the process chain: From screening in exploration through grade control in exploitation and monitoring in the mineral processing to the final product quality control. Our complete solutions are providing the information for best efficiency and product quality. X-ray analysis of polycrystalline powder samples is one of the most powerful process-control tools for the minerals and mining industry, e.g. by providing the essential information to increase the yield in the processing step or improve the cost of operation. More recently the capabilities of X-ray diffraction (XRD) are discovered for analysing the quantitative crystalline phase composition. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is the key technique for characterizing the element composition of all geological materials.
X-ray Fluorescence (WDXRF, EDXRF) for Elemental Analysis in Minerals, Mining and Geology
Wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis (WDXRF) is the most accepted analytical technique for elemental analysis and grade control. It is the most accepted analytical method for mining and minerals providing unrivalled accuracy and precision for elements in concentration ranges from 100% down to the trace level. Due to the simple sample preparation and integration path to automation WDXRF is the preferred analytical tool for mines and service labs ensuring the highest product quality and controlling the mining process. For geological surveys the high grade of analytical flexibility makes WDXRF an indispensible tool for geological research. The wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (WDXRF) S8 TIGER 4 K provides superior analytical performance for most demanding tasks regarding accuracy, precision, speed and reliability in industrial environment and in research.
S2 RANGER - Unique benchtop energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer
For dedicated analytical task, monitoring and field work in geology and exploration the S2 RANGER, the unique benchtop energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDXRF) with intuitive touch screen operation, is the right choice to serve all needs for mobility, flexibility and ease of use in combination with best performance.
Since setup and calibration of analytical instrumentation is time and money consuming Bruker continuously develops with industrial partner ready-to-analyze solutions: GEO-QUANT M is our solution for the analysis of major and minor element concentration in industrial minerals and related industrial products: Optimized methods, best practice sample preparation strategies and simple to integrate in the process for users; it enhances the efficiency and analytical quality in the laboratory. Another example of our expertise in this field is GEO-QUANT T: Instant results for more than 27 trace elements in geological materials straight out of the box. GEO-QUANT T provides excellent data of trace element concentrations in all different kinds of geological samples and supports in exploration, geological monitoring academic and industrial research.
Qualitative and Quantitative X-ray diffraction
X-ray diffraction (XRD) is an established non-destructive tool for qualitative and quantitative phase analysis. Recent software and hardware developments, particularly in detector technology, have given XRD a more widespread appeal in all fields of earth and material sciences as well as in the industrial world.
In addition to qualitative phase analysis, complete quantitative phase analysis presently offers a level of accuracy and precision that was not possible just a couple of years ago. Due to the introduction of our TOPAS software, X-ray diffraction (XRD) combined with Rietveld refinement has evolved into the most powerful method available for quantitative crystalline phase analysis. TOPAS is offering unrivalled performance and simplicity for quantitative Rietveld analysis. After having revolutionised cement production, TOPAS is currently opening up new possibilities in the field of Minerals and Mining.
Our flexible diffraction solutions cover user needs from research facilities to fully automated industrial laboratories. Our diffractometers are of a modular design, enabling easy interchanges of optics, sample environments and detectors. With the largest available variety of different components, we have the optimum configuration for your application. Expert application, sales, training and service is in place to support the customer.
