MICROSTAR ULTRA II

MICROSTAR ULTRA II

Unprecedented all-round performance

The award winning MICROSTAR ULTRA is now even hotter than ever before with the addition of the new ground breaking ULTRA FOCUSTM!

The innovative MICROSTAR ULTRA X-ray source for biological crystallography received a R&D 100 Award for 2007. These prestigious awards are the “Oscars of innovation” with which the most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace are recognized. The MICROSTAR ULTRA shows unprecedented performance, with lower cost-of-ownership and greater reliability than any competing source.

Now the new improved MICROSTAR ULTRA II takes home sources one step further!

With intensities in excess of 1011 photons/sec/mm2 and lower maintenance than traditional rotating anode generators, the MICROSTAR ULTRA II is the preferred source for structural biology.

The next generation in microfocus generators includes two ground-breaking innovations. The advanced HyperCoolTM anode technology allows for a more brilliant X-ray source with lower maintenance and power consumption. The unique proprietary high brightness electron optics gives more intensity on the sample, while filament lifetimes are longer than ever before. The novel ULTRA FOCUSTM gives up to 35% more intensity than a conventional 70 micron anode focus while also offering significantly superior stability. A perfect match with the HELIOSTM optics the MICROSTAR ULTRA II provides excellent beam characteristics: high flux, uniform beam profile, a good cross section, small and selectable divergence and high spectral purity.

Now you can see for yourself

Variability in the diffracting power of protein crystals has often made it difficult to quantitatively compare the performance of rotating anode generators. In order to simplify such comparisons Bruker AXS has developed a beam characterization kit based on an X-ray PN diode (absolutely calibrated by the PTB - Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) and computer-controlled apertures. This kit makes it simple and easy to measure the absolute flux and intensity at the sample position, making it easier than ever before to compare the real performance of X-ray sources. Come and compare the MICROSTAR ULTRA II to any other generator and see its superior performance for yourself.
