High-pressure studies – Comparison of Ag-IµS vs. 2 kW Mo-ST
High pressure studies are typically carried out in Diamond Anvil Cells (DAC) and suffer from limited opening angle, background introduced by the cell itself and reflections from the diamond used to compress the sample. A comparison of a typical diffraction pattern obtained from a SMART APEX II and the APEX II QUAZAR equipped with silver IμS and QUAZAR optics shows:
- Higher resolution and lower scattering from the DAC due to the shorter wavelength
- Smaller reflections from the diamond due to the smaller beam
