Field Service/Applications Engineer

Bruker Nano Analytics (BNA) belongs to Bruker Corporation, a worldwide leading provider of scientific instrumentation. The BNA division is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and is offering analytical tools for electron microscopy (EDS, EBSD) and micro X-ray fluorescence spectrometers (µXRF).
We are currently seeking to fill the following position in our office in Mumbai, India:

Field Service/Applications Engineer

Tasks and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Perform customer support activities including the installation, modification, system level troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of our EDS, EBSD and µXRF systems
  • Train personnel of both customers and local OEM partners in software application  and maintenance procedures
  • Applications support and development at the customer’s site ensuring that our instruments are utilized in the most effective way
  • Sample measurements / lab demos to demonstrate the capability of our products to prospective customers and existing users  
  • Initiation and maintenance of contacts with customers on a regular basis, assuring customer satisfaction
  • Attend seminars, conferences, workshops on pertinent topics to increase awareness of the Bruker Nano Analytics products

The ideal candidate’s profile:

  • M Sc. (Physics, Chemistry or Material Science) or B.E. (Instrumentation, Electronics)
  • Ideally at least 3 years of work experience in a relevant field (electron microscopy, X-ray spectrometry)
  • Aptitude for extensive domestic travel at short notice and international travel planned ahead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with MS office proficiency
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in both English and Hindi

Field Service/Applications Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Applications implementation and development at semiconductor, data storage, industrial fabrication facilities and laboratories, ensuring that our Atomic Force Microscopes, Optical Inspection, and Stylus Profiler instrumentation are utilized in the most effective way considering our customers most critical needs
  • Perform customer support activities involving the installation, modification, system level troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of complex equipment to ensure proper working order
  • Customer training on the operation, applications development, and maintenance of the system

Essential Functions:

  • Joint development of applications with customer and factory and subsequent applications implementation ensuring that our Atomic Force Microscopes, Optical Inspection, and Stylus Profiler instrumentation are utilized in the most effective way considering customers most critical needs e.g. productivity/throughput, cost per site/tip lifetime, device yield improvement, etc.
  • Install, modify, system level troubleshooting, repair and perform preventive maintenance procedure on equipment and systems following SOP policies, procedures and work direction of supervisor or site lead
  • Support customer needs by interfacing with factory personnel e.g. technical support and development engineering on problems necessitating equipment design changes or on potential new product applications
  • Train both internal and customer personnel in equipment operation, applications, and maintenance procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and programs designed to minimize equipment down time and improve MTBF
  • Customer account management
  • Maintain and initiate direct contact with customers through daily and weekly on-site meetings to assure customer satisfaction
  • Provide necessary information and reports to Service Management, Customers, and Corporate personnel
  • Perform contract customer site audits as directed by management to ensure the quality of service is maintained at the highest level achievable
  • Display commitment to resolve problems and make decisions based upon the priority of the problem in relation to business needs
  • Conform at all times to Veeco and customer’s safety, cleanliness, and working protocol policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Complete standard operating procedures, project plans and other documentations as required in a timely manner

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Customer demonstrations /samples
  • Attend seminars, conferences, workshops on pertinent topics to increase the Veeco knowledge base of standards or new ideas
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • 85% travel on short notice both domestically and international
  • Able to lift 40lb from floor to hip height
  • Able to work in a clean room environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid theoretical understanding of physics to enable problem solving of complex system and application issues
  • Able to experiment, test, diagnose, troubleshoot complex cutting edge electro-mechanical and computerized systems using standard tools such as oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.
  • Understanding of semiconductor technology and processes to enable best possible implementation of our AFM’s into the semiconductor process flow considering our customers most critical needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with MS office proficiency
  • Ability to multitask & team player
  • Self sufficient in computer/networking skills necessary to analyze logs, summarize data
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with ability to speak with clarity and interface effectively with customer, management and peers
  • Requires excellent systematic troubleshooting skills utilizing a structured and comprehensive process to determine the root cause of an outage with ability to handle problems independently and implement corrective action
  • Ability to develop excellent customer relationships
  • Must be able to travel to multiple site locations if deemed necessary to align with customer work schedule. 85% travel required with ability to travel domestically on short notice and internationally with advanced notice
  • Requires general understanding of basic computer language and commands
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written in both English and Mandarin

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum BS, Master of Science or PhD preferred, in Engineering or Physics with preference to Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineer with electrical engineering experience. Other scientific degrees (BS minimum) will be considered.
  • 3-5 years in a technical service, customer relations, and/or training position is desirable
  • Knowledge of Atomic Force Microscopes, Optical Inspection, and Stylus Profiler instrumentation and associated applications is desirable
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry and working in clean room environment are desirable

Assistant Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of internal operations for finance/sales related administration to support China BNS businesses
  • Daily follow up with business unit and customers, and for providing top quality customer services to both internal and external stakeholders

Essential Functions:

  • Claims / Expense disbursement / reimbursement:
    • Provide support to Business in administrating sales team expense claims/ reimbursement and disbursement
    • Check and verify the employees’ expense vouchers based on company's policy
    • Monitor Pre-approval of employee travel expenses
    • Prepare employee's local and overseas travel expense details and book accounting voucher (trip, entertainment, mobile transportation) for payment
    • Record employee's cash advance status
  • Deposit Management – Tender & Demo:
    • Maintain deposit status
    • Monitor deposit return schedule and resolve issues pertaining to non-settlement
    • Account for payment slip and deposit receipt
  • Local Purchase Management:
    • Corroborate local purchase invoices, classify items (in excel worksheet) according to Sales Order No. and compare with budget.
    • Resolve related issues pertaining to supplier’s payment
  • Customer Master Data Processing:
    • Maintain customer master database in SAP for CC. 1300,1350,1360
    • Setting up new and reviewing existing customer accounts
  • Commission Payment:
    • Provide support in identification and payment of commission for external rep agents and distributors
    • Maintain agents’ contract and commission schedule on file

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Back Up Support: Responsible for providing support to sales/office admin personnel as and when needed. May be assigned to various functional areas of the company

Customer Support Engineer

  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting of Bruker Atomic Force Microscopes, Stylus & Optical Profilers, Tribology & Mechanical Testing instrumentation encompassing both instrument and applications

  • Front line customer interface and support

Essential Functions:

  • 15% Knowledge data base development
