APEX II 4K CCD Detector
The APEX II brings you the best CCD-based X-ray detector for 3D structure determination on the widest variety of crystalline samples. Based on the largest scientific-grade CCD chip manufactured the APEX II does not require a taper to achieve the active area required for crystallography.
In the conventional CCD design, more than 90% of the photons from the scintillator are lost in the fiber optic taper. In the APEX II detector, 1:1 imaging improves the optical transmission by an order of magnitude - allowing data on yet smaller microcrystals or very weakly diffracting samples. The APEX II has 15 times the sensitivity of a classic design CCD detector.
The APEX II detector is available in a wide range of APEX II-based solutions. Expect excellent results for all applications in SC-XRD due to the unique features of the APEX II:
- 1:1 imaging for best quality and highest sensitivity
- Fast 4-port readout for highest productivity
- Lowest readnoise and darknoise for highest dynamic range
- Best spatial resolution - no fiber distortion
Our new PHOTON 100 detector has an even larger active area and is a taper-less CMOS detector.
