Applications Scientist XRD
This position provides training and technical support for wide angle X-ray scattering and small angle X-ray scattering using two-dimensional detector systems (PXRD/GADDS/SAXS) to current customers, field sales, service, engineering and manufacturing, and assists in the sales process through demonstrations, applications, report writing and technical support, at trade shows, conferences, prospective customer sites and in-house.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist Product Manager in the support of product sales by: 1) performing customer demonstations; 2) writing analysis reports performed on customer samples; 3) attending trade conferences; 4) accompanying field sales on sales calls to provide technical support; 5) generating technical literaturein support of sales efforts; 6) developing new applications with existing or modified equipment in support of sales.
- Provide after sales support by training customers at customer site or in-house; answering customer questions relating to the performance and operation of their hardware and software regarding their specific applications. Assist Product Manager with development of GADDS/SAXS Customer Training Program, course material and promotion.
- Assist Product Manager in marketing efforts for new product introductions.
- Evaluate new software to determine its readiness for implementation.
- Coordinate with our Bruker GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany factory on calibration projects and application report writing.
- Provide technical support to Field Service Reps by assisting with new product installation, repair, etc., by interfacing with German factory personnel.
- Attend trade shows to provide technical information to prospective customers and present scientific papers.
Skill/Educational Requirements:
- Education: Masters or equivalent experience in three-dimensional stress and texture analysis using two-dimensional detectors preferred.
- Experience: At least three years of analytical PXRD/GADDS/SAXS lab and synchrotron experience. Bruker AXS products preferred. Programming experience in C++ and Fortran perferred.
- Skills: Three years hands-on experience with X-ray diffraction products and methods. Experience and strong theoretical background in powder instrumentation, with area detector systems and four circle diffractometers. Mathematical and theoretical knowledge in Porod analysis, Guinier analysis. Knowledge of X-ray optics like Goebel Mirrors, capillary optics, etc.
Statement of Need/Comments:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively with international customers and internal employees.
- Excellent skills in performing scientific work, demonstrated in several publications.
- Excellent writing and communications skills. Fluent German/English language skills including technical vocabulary and knowledge necessary to communicate with sister factory in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Senior Sales Representative XRF/Spark-OES
- in the West Territory
to plan, organize, coordinate and execute the company's direct sales function for X-ray fluorescence (elemental and process analysis) and OES in the Western U.S.
The Senior Sales Representative will develop and maintain a congenial rapport with all customers within the assigned territory by providing support and positively representing Bruker AXS Inc. The Senior Sales Representative will establish and maintain a thorough and detailed knowledge of all assigned products and their applications, including detailed specifications, method of operation, prices, terms, deliveries etc. The successful candidate is also expected to establish and maintain a professional competence with the latest sales methods and techniques.
This position requires a proven track record of successful instrument sales, with five or more years of experience perferred. A technical background with a B.S. or Master's degree in Physical Science is preferred. We also consider longtime operators of laboratory spectrometers as well as technical engineers with longtime experience of installing and maintaining analytical instrumentation. Strong written and verbal skills are required.
